Two types of Electronical and Electrical Equipment (EEE)
There are two types of EEE, for which the gathering and processing regulations are different. They are the professional equipment and the household equipment; they are also both made of different product families.
- Professional equipment
Those products must only be used by professionals in a professional environment. For example, medical equipment, small fire extinguishers, professional tools, etc.
- Household equipment
Those are the ones who aren’t professional equipment. For instance, house heating, kitchen and lighting equipment as well as toys and gardening tools.
Example:
- Light bulbs & radiators: it is impossible to know whether they are going to be used in a professional environment or in the house, which is why they are always considered as a household equipment

The French market of the small household electrical appliances
According to the annual report of the Gifam (Association of the household appliance’s brands), French people bought 57.3 million small household electrical appliances in 2021. Spending a total of 3.9 billion euros, compared to 2019 this number increased by 14.7%. The Covid-19 epidemic forced French people to stay home, which indirectly made them buy more household appliances, for example kitchen tools. In the last five years, coffee machine sales were multiplied by five. In this fast-growing market, small appliance French sellers must pay attention to the EPR law. They should register in time as to avoid any financial losses.
